Vision often refers to 'What' we want the church to be - Mission refers to 'How' we make that happen:
During Covid, it's been a tough time for many of us, but being forced to stop has also allowed us a moment to reflect on how things were being done, and how Church really should be. We've had a chance to reorientate, re-prioritise, and re-purpose who we are and what we do.
We wanted not to reinvent the wheel, but to get back to how Church was meant to be. So we've based all we've put together on the early Church (found in Acts 2:42-47) and Paul's guidance for the Church in (Ephesians 4:12)
And here's what we feel God is leading us to do ...

Our Vision
Our vision is to reimagine ‘Church’ as it was always meant to be; not a building or a service, but a unified family serving the Cynon Valley for the glory of God.
Our heart is to reimagine what Church is and how it is perceived! It's not just a dusty old, cold building where old people go! It's a vibrant, loving family of unique people all called to love God and show his love to people! We worship, eat together, hear teaching, meet for coffee, have socials, pray together and so much more!
Reimagining Church means 3 main things for us at CVC: |
We are the Church -
we aren't bound by buildings
|
We're all about daily discipleship to Jesus -
we aren't Sunday centred
|
We gather in circles not rows
|
Our Mission
Our mission is to be devoted followers of Christ who make his love known in the Cynon Valley by sharing the good news and serving our community.
At the heart of reimagining Church to what it should always have been, is to evaluate what WE have to be as the Church.
At the heart of being a great Church is being great followers of Jesus! We think devotion has 3 main parts and has 2 clear out-workings: |
Our devotion is: (Acts 2:42)
As we devote ourselves to follow Jesus it leads us to:
- As followers of Christ - we follow, watch, copy/obey him, and then represent him to the world!
- To God - Our devotion is seen in listening to God's teaching and dedicating time to prayer
- To each other - Fellowship and sharing meals actively build up the church as we became unified together
As we devote ourselves to follow Jesus it leads us to:
- Share our faith - We just tell people the story of how Jesus saved and changed us!
- Serve our Community - When we all serve our community - especially the poor - we reveal God's love to them!
